Patio Privacy Screen Panels in Black Aluminum

A patio is the easiest outdoor room to love and the hardest to keep private. It sits at ground level, often right next to the neighbors' yard or a side street. A patio privacy screen made from PrivacyPlus+ aluminum panels gives you a clean, modern wall where you need it, without a full fence around the yard.

Why Aluminum Privacy Screens for Patios

PrivacyPlus+ panels are laser-cut from 6063-T6 aluminum, a commercial-grade structural aluminum, then powder-coated black.

  • No rot, no warping. Aluminum won't rot, warp or decay over time.
  • Virtually no maintenance. No painting, staining or sealing, ever. Wash with soap and water.
  • Weather-ready. Panels and hardware are made to resist corrosion and weather exposure.
  • Only where you need it. Screen the side that faces the neighbors and leave the rest of the view open.

Privacy Fence Panels for Your Patio, Without the Full Fence

A fence runs the property line. A patio screen goes right where you sit. A short run of privacy panels beside the dining table or around a lounge area often gives more privacy than a fence at the back of the yard, because it's closer to the people it's hiding. For a deeper look, read privacy screen vs. privacy fence.

Planning a Patio Privacy Screen

Start from your seat

Sit at the table or in your favorite chair and look around. Mark where you see into a neighbor's windows or yard, and where they see you. That tells you which side, or which corner, to screen.

Height

Every PrivacyPlus+ panel is 68" tall. Panels attach to 72" posts and sit 2 1/4" off the patio, so the top of an installed panel is about 70 1/4" above the surface. That blocks side views for people seated on the patio. A screen blocks side views, not views from a second-story window.

Length and layout

Panels come in 36" and 24" widths in every pattern, and posts are spaced to match. Your contractor can mix the widths to fit the run: a straight wall beside a dining area, an L around a corner, or a screen that hides a grill or utility area. Your contractor decides the layout and post locations for your patio.

How it mounts on a concrete patio

On a concrete patio, the posts do the mounting. Each post is fastened to the concrete with concrete screws (anchors), and the panels attach to the posts. The panels never mount directly to the concrete, so the patio surface stays as it is between posts.

Add a gate

If the screen sits between the patio and a side yard or driveway, add a matching PrivacyPlus+ gate in 36" x 68" or 48" x 68". Each gate includes hinges, a latch and a self-closing closure unit.

Check local rules

Some HOAs limit the height, color or placement of screens, and some towns require a permit. Check with your HOA and building department before you start.

Pick a Pattern

Signal gives the most privacy, then Linear, then Nature. Choose Signal for a patio that faces a close neighbor, or Nature if you want a lighter look that lets more of the yard show through. Linear sits in between with a solid face and thin horizontal lines.

Hardware and Installation

Panel hardware is sold separately: 72" black 3" x 3" posts with cap and skirt, brackets, and powder-coated stainless steel fasteners, all on the Hardware page. Gates include their hardware. PrivacyPlus+ is a modular system, so your contractor can install it in hours, not days.

The same panels work for a deck privacy screen, a hot tub privacy screen or a pool equipment screen. See all aluminum privacy panels.
