Deck Privacy Screen Panels in Black Aluminum

A deck is where you eat, unwind and host, and it's hard to relax when the neighbors' kitchen window looks right at your table. A deck privacy screen built from PrivacyPlus+ aluminum panels gives you a clean, modern wall exactly where you need it, and it never needs painting, staining or sealing.

Why an Aluminum Deck Privacy Screen

Wood screens look good the first summer. After that, they need stain, sealer and repairs. PrivacyPlus+ panels are laser-cut from 6063-T6 aluminum, a commercial-grade structural aluminum, then powder-coated black.

  • No rot, no warping. Aluminum won't rot, warp or decay over time.
  • Virtually no maintenance. No painting, staining or sealing, ever. Wash with soap and water to clear dust or debris.
  • Built for the weather. The powder-coated panels and hardware are made to resist corrosion and weather exposure.
  • A modern look. A black panel reads as a clean architectural wall, not a fence dropped onto a deck.

Plan Your Privacy Wall for the Deck

Find the sight lines

Sit where you actually sit: the dining table, the lounge chairs, the grill. Note every spot where you see a neighbor's window, yard or a busy street. Many decks only need one side screened, or a short L around a seating area, not a full enclosure.

Check the height

Every PrivacyPlus+ panel and gate is 68" tall, and panels attach to 72" posts. An installed panel sits 2 1/4" off the deck surface, so the top of the panel is about 70 1/4" above the deck. That height blocks side views for people sitting on the deck, and for many people standing. Measure your own setup to be sure. A screen blocks side views, not views from a neighbor's second-story window.

Fit the run to your deck

Panels come in 36" and 24" widths in every pattern, and posts are spaced to match the panel you choose. Your contractor can mix the two widths to fit the length of the run. Panels attach to the posts, and the posts mount on a deck, a concrete patio or another solid, secure surface. On concrete, the posts are fastened down with concrete screws (anchors).

Keep a way through

If the screen closes off a corner of the deck or the steps down to the yard, add a matching PrivacyPlus+ gate. Gates come in the same patterns in 36" x 68" and 48" x 68", and each gate includes hinges, a latch and a self-closing closure unit.

Check local rules first

A privacy screen on a deck catches wind and adds load to the deck, so your contractor decides post locations and mounting for your site. Some HOAs limit the height, color or placement of screens, and some towns require a permit for structures attached to a deck. Check with your HOA and building department before work starts.

Choose a Pattern

All three patterns come in both panel sizes and in matching gates. Signal gives the most privacy, then Linear, then Nature.

  • Signal: rows of short dashes and dots. The most private of the three.

  • Linear: a solid black face with thin, straight horizontal lines.
  • Nature: irregular, staggered horizontal cutouts with an organic look. The least private of the three.

What's Included

Gates are different: each one includes its hinges, latch and self-closing closure unit.

Professional Installation

PrivacyPlus+ is a modular system, so your contractor can install a deck privacy screen in hours, not days. Your contractor handles the layout, post locations and mounting for your deck.

More Ways to Use PrivacyPlus+

The same panels work well beyond the deck: a patio privacy screen, a hot tub privacy screen, or a screen for pool equipment, AC units and trash bins. See the full line of aluminum privacy panels.
